WHAT: In a National Press Club "Newsmakers" media briefing on Tuesday, September 23, at 10 a.m. Eastern Time, the American Benefits Council will release A 2020 Vision: Flexibility and the Future of Employee Benefits, setting forth conditions that should be in place by 2020 to enable Americans to achieve personal health and financial well-being.

More than just a vision statement, it includes 46 specific legislative and regulatory policy recommendations for reaching our goals. These recommendations describe, among other things, how to help large employers remain in the health system in light of the Affordable Care Act, how to help individuals save adequately for retirement and how to improve employee benefits regulation.

Council leadership will describe the current (and coming) political environment for employee benefits reform, outline our legislative and regulatory priorities for the short term and explain the health and retirement security implications if the nation fails to achieve these goals.
